There are quite a few conflicts in the book Divergent, but there are a few that remain prevalent throughout the novel. For example, Beatrice harbors personal struggles through most of the book including the desire to belong in one faction, which we can all relate to. Beatrice must face up to challenges and find out for herself whether she is Dauntless material or not by completing the initiation tasks. She also makes discoveries about how the once believed as "perfect" society is not so perfect after all. She discovers flaws in the system and takes action. In the book taking action comes with consequences, which leads to her becoming factionless and the outburst of the revolutionary wars. To my surprise, these battles are violent and extremely suspenseful, including the climax of the novel that occurs during the war that is now happening due to the discovery of the plans of war against the Faction Abnegation. During one of the most important battles, Tris (Beatrice) and Tobias, are the only ones who are awake due to the fact that they could both belong to multiple factions, or Divergent, (as shown by their aptitude tests results). What this means is that they are immune to the mind control tactics used in the war due to their faction, which is Divergent. This gives them the power to overcome the simulations and attack against the mind controlled Dauntless soldiers. Beatrice and Tobias are later captured and both dealt their own punishments for rebelling. Tobias is caught and put under a special simulation that makes him consider Tris as his enemy for Divergent rebels and Beatrice is isolated into a glass cube to be drowned (which was one of her fears in the initiation). The people who captured Beatrice planned to drown her while she remained in the cube because she was now useless to them due to her wound when she was shot. The Erudite leader had originally planned to use Tobias and Tris as test subjects for future simulation serums, but the wound proved to be an obstacle. Tris's mother was shot while she assisted Tris in escaping the cube and only Tris made it out. These sad and suspenseful events all contribute to the climax and conflicts of the novel Divergent.
